About Mr Paul’s Shoretrooper Build

The project started at the beginning of 2018 with the intent of making a convincing representation of the Rogue One Shoretrooper armour. I had recently finished another build based on a fan made kit and I was forced to admit that after extensive modifications it still needed a lot more work to make it right.

These next generation costumes found in Rogue One are not simple builds. Processes such as vac forming are no longer appropriate methods of manufacture. It fails to capture the sharp edges and complex geometry of the new armours.

Mr Paul’s Shoretrooper Build – Chest render (buckles are not included)

3D printing was the only way that this costume was going to be recreated with any success. I became aware of a very talented 3D artist working within the community and I approached him with an idea. Fortunately he was willing to undertake the project as long as he could be provided with accurate and reliable sources of material and reference to work from.

There is a wealth of visual reference that has already accumulated online from the many different displays where the Shoretrooper has been on show over the last 3 years. More was needed.

We were lucky enough to have other Shoretrooper enthusiasts join the team who were able to assist us with what we needed to get this project underway. When we got stuck we approached (and on some occasions contacted by!) LFL employees who worked personally on the screen used costume in the hope that they could help. I cannot thank enough those who fed back the information we needed.

It was not always possible to obtain clarification on certain details or gain access to certain areas of the costume. Therefore we do not claim that this is a 100% screen accurate replica of the Shoretrooper costume. However we do hope we have achieved a convincing and authentic likeness nonetheless, based on reference, measurements and access to information taken from the screen used costume.

Although the team wishes to remain anonymous, I have nothing but appreciation for the hard work and cooperation that saw this project through to the end. Plus, a personal thank you to Stoo Collins who has been a huge enthusiast for the Shoretrooper costume, this project, and a rock in the community since day one. Thank you to the Shoretrooper Facebook group Shoretrooper Fam and the other relevant groups for allowing me to promote this kit and my page within them. Thank you to the community for all the positive comments, feedback and for following and supporting this project. It is all greatly appreciated. Of course none of this would have been possible without the our talented 3D artist at the centre of it all. Thank you.

I hope this project will be well received in the Star Wars costuming arena. Below there is some important information you may want to read before proceeding with your purchase.

As you were,
Mr Paul

What is not included!

The STL files available through this website do not include everything you need to finish the armour. The accompanying parts needed to complete the costume are hand made or moulded and cast by myself. They are specifically designed to fit this particular armour kit. Further information on purchasing these parts can be obtained by contacting me by email to paul@mrpaulsshoretrooperbuild.co.uk or sending me a message via my Facebook page www.facebook.com/totalgrunt

There are a lot more details concerning these additional parts on the Facebook page.

The following is a list of the remaining parts you will need to complete your build. The parts needed will obviously depend on what rank trooper you are building.

There are also parts that cater for the AT-ACT driver and Tank Driver variant.

  • Shin strap and shin buckle set
  • Shoulder strap and shoulder buckle set
  • Captain belt box set
  • Grunt belt box set
  • Squad leader belt box set
  • AT-ACT belt box set
  • Tank Driver belt box set
  • Rear slugs/shotgun cartridges
  • Vertical can cap greeblie
  • Armoured skirt
  • Left and right shoulder bell supports
  • Left and right back box insert greeblies
  • Soft belt and metal slider buckle
  • If you choose not to print the rear belt cover then you will need to acquire a suitable sheet plastic to use with the template provided.

I will also be looking to offer the internal rigging. More details of that will be on my Facebook page along with upcoming build tutorials and assembly instructions for getting this kit put together.

Please be aware that neither the helmet or any of the soft parts are provided. Those will have to be sourced from other vendors. I only really recommend the ANOVOS range of helmets or the Nico Henderson sculpt if you are looking for the correct look and a convincing overall appearance.

Another thing to take into consideration is your size. This kit is designed to fit a person of average build. Approximate height 5’11”. Weight 165lbs. Waist 32″-36″. The shin armour needs to slide over your feet to get them on. Feet size over UK 9.5 will have difficulty. Of course you could rescale these parts of the armour to accommodate your body shape/size however this will inevitably affect the overall appearance of the costume and the compatibility of the additional bench made parts as they cannot be resized.

Please carefully read the Terms and Conditions before you purchase the files. If you do not think you can meet the terms and conditions then please do not purchase the files.

I do encourage the community to police itself. It is unfair that whilst one person abides by the rules another does not. If you see any misuse of these files please feel free to report back and it can be investigated further, all reports will be treated with the utmost confidence.

We want peoples hard work to be protected and not ripped off, that way there can be more good work done in the future.
